UK SKAO Regional Centre officially certified as a Version 0.1 Node

We can share this week that the UK SKAO Regional Centre has officially been certified as a Version 0.1 Node — a huge milestone in the development of the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) programme.

This achievement comes thanks to a brilliant collaboration between our RCS team and colleagues at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), who have been working hard to stand up a network node at RAL. This node is part of the international infrastructure that will support the transfer of astronomical observation data across SKAO’s participating countries.

With the UK now confirmed as the fourth fully operational node in the global network, the SKAO programme can kick off a meaningful set of initial tests — marking a major step forward in enabling next-generation radio astronomy.
